Tony Bish Skeetfield Chardonnay 2019
Intense rich & powerful with sublime texture. Old vine dry farmed Mendoza Chardonnay, fully barrel fermented in Taransaud French oak barriques. The palate is rich with power and intensity of fruit supported by layers of complex flavours that unfold in the mouth. Yellow stone fruits mingle with ripe citrus and almond notes, complemented by rich nutty and textural characters from barrel ferment. A cracking Chardonnay to drink now or continue cellaring for 5+ years!
About Tony Bish Wines
Tony Bish has been making wine for more than 20 years. He fell into wine making following a long hot summer at Makorori Beach in Gisborne lazing in the surf and hanging in bars. His first vintage in 1981 was at Corbans winery in Gisborne.
For those of you that don’t know, ‘Bish’ as he is affectionately known, has had a long love affair with ‘the egg’.
“Falling in love with the stunning Taransaud French Oak 'Ovum' egg was easier than falling off a bike!”
Tony Bish Wines was the first winery in the Southern Hemisphere to have a highly prized Ovum, and his Zen Chardonnay is a world first wine. The egg, first conceived in France in 2001, were originally concrete and more recently French Oak. They are now widely used by innovative winemakers around the world. Bish introduced concrete eggs to the NZ winemaking scene in 2015. After many prototypes, the boys are knocking out some beautiful eggs now.
