New to the Mount Michael Family - Isla is their Premium Reserve Pinot Noir with only 115 cases made.
Made with pristine fruit from the Bendigo Sub-region of Central Otago, it spent 12 months in French Oak before further cellaring for release in April 2019. This boutique wine has a firm nose of ripe, dark red fruits with herbaceous elements that unfold into nutty and distinctive oak aromas. Rich and luscious on the palate with concentrated dark berries, plum and liquorice, fine tannins and balanced acidity.
This is a serious Pinot Noir, a treat to drink now but your patience will be rewarded with further cellaring.
About Mount Michael Wines
Mount Michael is the southernmost peak of the Pisa range and acts as a guardian of the Kawarau Gorge and the entrance to the Cromwell Basin and overlooking the subregions in which Mount Michael wines are grown.
Like the mountain, they have a pioneering spirit with a rich history of planting and making wines in Central Otago dating back to 1994. Present day – not much has changed, they are still exploring the region in pursuit of perfect growing conditions and flawless fruit while discovering new and evolving wine making techniques to continue to produce boutique, handcrafted Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Rose.
Distinctively Central Otago; Mount Michael Wines are expressive of the land they come from and are treasured by all that know them.
